Since 1921, the League has contributed more than 2.2 million hours of volunteer community service which is valued at over $40 million, as well; we have donated $1.5 million to over 250 community partners statewide. Proudly, no other all women’s membership organization has done so much for Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts communities!Currently, we are in our third year of partnership with The Rhode Island Community Food Bank – Women Ending Hunger Campaign, and with Children’s Friend and Service – Supporting Literacy for Young Children Campaign. This year, as is our practice, we are exploring and considering possible new community partnership opportunities which would commence in the fall of 2010.(more) |

The Junior League of Rhode Island, Inc. Announces A Community Literacy Event in Memory of Karla Harry | The Junior League of Rhode Island, Inc. (JLRI) will be hosting a community storytelling event in memory of long-time League member, Karla Harry on Saturday, February 20 at The Gordon School in East Providence, RI from 9-11:30 A.M. Karla was a librarian at The Gordon School and held a passion for books and the literacy of children. This event is FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. Children will be given arts and crafts activities and regaled by professional storytellers. (more) | | |
